Nanodiamonds May be the Future of Dentistry, but Hamlin Dental Group Provides the Best Dental Service Today

At Hamlin Dental Group, we are happy to provide the gentle, warm dentistry that is appreciated by all. Through our world-class medical skills and extensive knowledge of dental procedures, we have come to be known as the dentist in Northridge, North Hollywood, and throughout the San Fernando Valley that Southern California residents trust. That's why, when we read exciting news regarding the future of dentistry, we can't help but share it with our many loyal patients and supporters.

One such piece of news was reported today from Health Canal, and tells of UCLA researchers who have discovered that diamonds on a very small scale could potentially be used to promote bone growth and the durability of dental implants.Nanodiamonds, which are created as byproducts of conventional mining and refining operations, are approximately four to five nanometers in diameter and shaped like tiny soccer balls.

At the UCLA School of Dentistry, the UCLA Department of Bioengineering and Northwestern University, alongside collaborators at the NanoCarbon Research Institute in Japan, might have found a way to use them to improve bone growht and combat osteonecrosis, a disease in which bones break down due to reduced blood flow.

"The discovery serves as a foundation for the future of nanotechnology in dentistry, orthopedics and other domains in medicine," says Dr. No-Hee Park, dean of the UCLA School of Dentistry. "Dr. Ho and his team have demonstrated the enormous potential of the nanodiamonds toward improving patient care. He is a pioneer in his field."

Nanodiamond technology may be a ways away, yet, but you can rest assured that as the premier dentist in Van Nuys, at Hamlin Dental Group, we're proud of our reputation for providing our patients with the best dentistry available today. If you're seeking truly effective dentistry with a conservative approach, contact Hamlin Dental Group today.
