Can Cavities Fight Cancer?

Is it possible that dental cavities can be good for you? Sort of, according to a recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). The study suggests that individuals with more dental cavities are less likely to be diagnosed with head or neck cancer.

Physicians associated with the study are quick to note that JAMA's findings, conducted over an eight year period, only reveal a correlation between head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and cavities; however, correlation does not necessarily equal causation. Tooth decay remains harmful and can result in a surprising variety of health concerns. The good news is that cavities are a totally preventable and manageable problem, and Hamlin Dental Group is uniquely equipped to improve the dental situations of patients all over the Los Angeles area.

Dr. Hamid Reza, the celebrated dentist in Northridge who founded Hamlin Dental Group, has practiced dentistry for nearly twenty years. In that time, he has worked hard to painstakingly assemble a staff that dedicated to providing patients with exceptionally professional dental care. And while the other dentists, hygienists and assistants at Hamlin Dental Group's three Los Angeles area locations—including North Hollywood, Northridge and Van Nuys—are highly experienced, we also offer a warm and gentle approach that brings people and their families back for more!
